Grey whales in Magdelana bay is an excursion where you can get so close to whales that you could touch them…literally. Grey Whales in Magdalena bay includes your transportation to the area, a knowledgeable guide, an experienced local captain, 2 boat trips to give you the best chances to have amazing experiences with these wonderful creatures. For your comfort, a hotel for one night and breakfast for 2 days is included in the excursion.

Grey whales migrate in pods from the Alaskan waters to the warmer shallow waters off the Mexican coast each year to breed and have their babies. Grey Whales in Magdalena bay are protected and their numbers are growing, when you are out in the bay you will see whales in all directions.

MAGDALENA BAY:

Magdalena bay is a unique place as it is one of the few places in the world where you can have a very intimate whale watching experience.  Whale’s confidence in humans has grown so they are now approaching the boats to seek interaction with us in a calm lagoon with very few boats.

What can you see?

You can see grey whales and their calves up close, along with dolphins, coyotes, and numerous species of sea birds. Tours run from February until the end of March when the calves reach their highest activity and display their inquisitive natures. If you do not find the date you are looking for then please contact us to arrange your trip.

Itinerary- Day 1

Pick up from your accommodation in San Jose, Cabo San Lucas or La Paz to drive to Magdalena bay. You can stop off along the way to see the surrounding towns and places of attraction. You will be provided with a snack for the trip.

As you arrive to Magdalena bay you will have a chance for lunch before boarding your private boat to see some grey whales. This boat ride gives you the opportunity to spot and interact with the grey whales. After your first trip with these amazing creatures, you will be able to check into your local, comfy accommodation to rest and shower then head out for dinner at a local restaurant.

 

Day 2

Depart for a calm morning whale watching experience to get the last encounter with these amazing beasts before you enjoy your traditional Mexican lunch before returning back to your accommodation.

Depart for a 3hr whale watching experience around 7.30am, return for a delicious lunch and then head home.

In these 2 days we will be out whale watching for around 5 to 6 hours split in 2 tours: one in the afternoon after arrival and one the next morning after breakfast. The timing is optimized for providing the best possible whale watching experience:
