Espiritu Santo history
On your sea lion snorkel trip to Espiritu Santo you will enjoy the incredibly beautiful landscapes of the National Park. Espíritu Santo island is the biggest sea lion nursery in the Baja it is home to around 600 sea lions. This gives you a high chance to interact and enjoy cuddles from the cheeky sea lion pups while you are snorkeling. Espíritu Santo Island is a protected area and was declared part of a biosphere reserve by UNESCO in 1995. This beautiful island is located in the sea of Cortez a few miles off the coast of La Paz.
What is there to see?
On your way out to the snorkel area, you have the chance to see sea lions, turtles, mobula rays, cow-nose rays, dolphins, sharks, birds, and even whales. Around the island, in the snorkel area, you can see hundreds of different types of tropical fish.
Once the boat departs the marina you will be given your snorkel gear if you need it and you can relax and enjoy the journey to the island. Along the way, you can watch out for dolphins and schools of mobula rays popping out of the water and you can enjoy the views of the wonderful beaches and rock formations.
During your snorkel, you have the chance to see amazing marine life and playful sea lion pups, coral and thousands of tropical fish.
On the boat ride back you have the chance to visit the bird colonies and see the breathtaking rock formations before heading back to the marina.
